Could You Use $5,000 Between Now and March 31, 2015?

Diamond HomeLet’s face it, we live in difficult times. The world is changing, our economic system continues to be unstable, uncertainty abounds, and stress is increasing in our lives. We long for a respite, but often don’t know what to do. We want peace and quiet and a break from the stresses of life.

I was born in New York City, grew up in Los Angeles, and we raised our children in the San Francisco bay area. After the children were grown my wife, Carlin, and I wanted to live in the country. We came to Willits, a small town, in the big trees of Mendocino County. We built our dream home in the country and have lived joyfully here for 24 years.

We’ve been very blessed to be able to live in wonderful places over the years. City life was wonderful, country life has been wonderful. We’re now looking forward to moving into our town of Willits.

Here’s where you come in. We know there is a family out there who has been thinking of a dream house in the country and this may be it. Maybe they are freezing in the east and want to live in sunny California. Maybe they live in a big city and want to move to the country. Maybe they are close by and want real peace and quiet.

We have a beautiful home on 22 acres of land, with abundant water, wonderful gardens, a number of outbuildings, close to town, yet very private. You can learn more about the property and see pictures here.

We’re offering a $5,000 reward to anyone who finds a buyer between now and March 31, 2015. We’re motivated to sell. The price is right. You may know just the right person.

If you know someone interested in buying or if you’re that person, please contact our Realtor, Tony Sorace, Office (707) 459-5108, or mobile (707) 489-3763.

This is one of the most peaceful places on earth.  After being here a few months I realized, “the loudest thing I could hear were my eyelashes blinking…Really!”

Here are some of the features that have made this our dream home. Could this be the right place for you or someone you know?

  • Beautifully crafted, custom home in excellent condition, open floor plan. Skylights and windows bring the outdoors in, upper and lower wrap around decks, cool in summer, warm in winter. Relaxing, peaceful, clean air, abundant water.
  • Two bedrooms. Additional room possible for other bedroom, a study, office space, T.V. and music room, den. High-speed internet with Wi-Fi. One bathroom plus composting toilet.
  • Literally at the crossroads: 12 miles north of Willits, 12 miles south of Laytonville. 12 miles to Willits Municipal Airport. 30 miles to Covelo and Round Valley and on to the Yolla Bolly Wilderness. 35 miles to the coast: Westport, Ft. Bragg, Mendocino.
  • A number of outbuildings for shop, studio, and garden equipment. Trailer for bedroom or office with electric and phone connections. Driveway leads to small, partially completed studio with beautiful views through the trees. Another road leads to proposed second building site with deluxe storage shed and graveled driveway (Son had planned to build here, but fell in love, got married, and moved).
  • Trees and wildlife galore, fantastic wild mushroom gathering including Matsutake, Chanterelles, Black trumpets, and more. Walk three days without seeing people, yet great neighbors close…but not too close. Near Outlet Creek and the Eel River. On a ridge at 2500’ surrounded by Madrone, Tan Oak and Fir trees. BLM land on one edge.
  • Off the grid, solar power with backup propane and gas generators. Electric lines not too far away. Could be brought in if desired. Excellent place to work undisturbed for music, art, writing, meditation, growing, and gardening.
  • Plentiful clean well water, seasonal rain catchment in tanks and a year around spring. Wooded with usable timber for milling or firewood.
  • Well-kept organic gardens with raised beds, 17 mature fruit trees, perennials, herbs, and flowers.
  • Beamed ceilings, propane heater, refrigerator, cooking stove, water heater plus two wood stoves.

Why This May Be the Right Time To Move

Before we moved out of the city, we were dealing with increasing anxiety, stress, and migraines for a number of years. We knew many friends who had left the city and moved to the country, but city life seemed so much more exciting. We hung in there. But when it became evident that the benefits of city life were overshadowed by the drawbacks, we decided to move. Have you been having similar experiences?

Recently I’ve been reading Thom Hartmann’s book, The Crash of 2016. He says, “The United States is more vulnerable today than ever before—including during the Great Depression and the Civil War—because the pillars of democracy that once supported a booming middle class have been corrupted. Without them, America teeters on the verge of the next Great Crash.”

I’ve learned over the years, that when things start crashing it’s good to be in a safe place. For some that safe place is a big city. For others it’s a small town. Some people are looking for a safe haven in the country. Whatever’s right for you, Hartmann offers a compelling argument that making a move in 2015 rather than waiting until later may be the most important decision of your life.

This is a Win/Win/Win

There aren’t always a lot of opportunities in life for everyone to win. I believe this is an opportunity for a win/win/win. You win by letting people know about this opportunity (or you may be that someone) and collecting the $5,000. The person you refer finds their dream home in the country and they win. We win by getting the money from the sale of our house and buying a house in Willits.

  1. If you are concerned about a economic crash then the city is not where you want to be. Food and water have to be transported to cities every day. In a crash food would disappear of the shelves quickly. Also, crime would soar, traffic would congest and widespread panic would breakout. I suggest staying where you are, buy a water purifier and stockpile food. Also remember that all these doom sayers are out promoting books and newsletters for their own gain.

  2. Thanks for putting this out there, Jed! I have shared on my FB page! Being in a place like Willits is a lot safer than a big city if the western world falls!

  3. Thanks friends for sharing ideas and insights. This is a time of big changes and being with a group of people committed to these transition times is important. Willits is such a place, whether living right
in the town or outside in the hills. We’ve been working to focus on Economic Localization for a number of years.

So whoever buys our place will know that they have a place for themselves AND a community of like-minded people who are aware of the changes on the horizon.
