An Enlightened Marriage: The Graduate School of Life

 May 2, 2016

HandsI have been a marriage and family therapist since 1968 and have helped more than 25,000 couples find real, lasting love. I’ve also helped an equal number of singles to find that special someone and learn to have a marriage that lasts through time. I tell my clients that marriage is the graduate school of life. It’s the advanced degree that you don’t have to enroll in college to earn, but you don’t get it simply by falling in love. It takes work, but it’s the best kind of work a person can do in life.

In December, 2015 I gave a talk for the Avenues to Wellness series, “Learn the 5 Stages of Love.” I talked about the experiences Carlin and I have had being married for 36 years and what we’ve learned that can help couples and singles have the relationship they’ve always wanted. The feedback was very positive and many asked if I would be teaching a more in-depth class in Willits.

I thought I would wait until my new book, The Enlightened Marriage: The 5 Transformative Stages of Relationships and Why the Best is Still to Come, is released in August, 2016. But I decided to offer a one-day class here in Willits on Saturday, May 14, 2016 before I start my book tour. It will be the only time I offer the class in Mendocino County in 2016.

If you’re in a good relationship, but you want it to be great, in a relationship under stress, or single and looking for that special someone to share your life with through the years, I hope you’ll consider joining the class. It’s called The Enlightened Marriage Masters Class.

Here are the 10 most important relationship skills my clients say they’ve learned working with me and what you’ll learn in this Masters Class:

  • How to fall back in love if love has been lost.
  • How to deal with differences in sexual desire or practices.
  • How to have a great sex life after years of marriage.
  • How to talk about difficult issues without being judged or judgmental.
  • How to deal with male irritability, anger, and depression.
  • How to prevent an affair and heal from one if it happens.
  • How to keep your marriage “alive” and keep from drifting apart.
  • How to find your soul-mate and develop and maintain intimacy, passion and love as we age.
  • How to save your mid-life marriage or know when it’s time to let go.
  • How to heal from an ending and have the courage and wisdom to find real, lasting love.

Which ones are most important to you? What additional relationship questions do you have? I’m keeping the class small so you will have time to get your individual questions answered. My wife, Carlin, will be joining me so you’ll be able to get both a male and female perspective on love.

We’re all busy and taking a day to focus on sex, love, intimacy, and how to have an enlightened marriage, is not something most people do. Too often we wait until there is a crisis and I see many people who come for help when their relationship is in deep trouble. Why wait? Learn more here: https://menalive.com/mastersclass or on the RSVP on the Facebook event page. I invite you to join me for this fun, engaging, and enlightening day—Saturday, May 14, 2016. If you’d like more details give me a call at 707 459-5505 and I’ll be glad to give you all the information. Until then I wish you a joyful springtime and real, lasting love in your life.
